
Sarina Wiegman is a Dutch football manager who has made history as the first person to win the FIFA Women’s EURO as both a player and a coach.
She is also the first Dutch coach to win the tournament, and the first coach to win back-to-back EURO titles.
Wiegman’s journey to the top of the game has been anything but conventional.
She began her playing career as a defender but later switched to midfield.
She represented the Netherlands at the 1995, 1999, and 2003 FIFA Women’s World Cups, and was named the Dutch Footballer of the Year in 2000.

After retiring from playing, Wiegman turned to coaching.
She first worked as an assistant coach for the Netherlands women’s national team, and then as the head coach of the Dutch under-19 team.
In 2014, she was appointed as the head coach of the Netherlands women’s national team and led them to victory in the 2017 FIFA Women’s EURO.
In 2021, Wiegman was appointed as the head coach of the England women’s national team.
She led the team to victory in the 2022 UEFA Women’s EURO, becoming the first person to win the tournament as both a player and a coach.
