Lindiwe Zulu is a South African politician and communications strategist who is currently serving as Minister of Social Development.
She is a member of the African National Congress (ANC) and has been a member of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) since 2007.

Zulu was born on April 21, 1958, in Nhlazatshe, Eastern Transvaal, South Africa.
Her family moved to Swaziland after the 1976 Soweto uprising, where she joined the ANC.
In 1978, she moved to Mozambique and then Tanzania, where she attended Solomon Mahlangu Freedom College.
She graduated with a degree in journalism from Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow in 1985.
Political career
Zulu returned to South Africa in 1990 after the end of apartheid. She worked as a communications officer for the ANC Women’s League and then as a special adviser to the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
In 2004, she was appointed Ambassador to Brazil.
She served in this role until 2009 when she was appointed International Relations Advisor to President Jacob Zuma.
In 2014, she was elected to Parliament and appointed Minister of Small Business Development. She has been the Minister of Social Development since 2019.

Zulu is married to Kgosietsile Itholeng, a South African businessman. They have a son together. Zulu is an avid runner and has competed in several marathons.
