South African Hip-Hop Artist Jub Jub Granted Bail After Being Charged with Rape, Attempted Murder, and Assault

Jub Jub, whose real name is Molemo Maarohanye, was granted bail of R10,000 on Thursday after being charged with three counts of rape, two of attempted murder, and one of assault.

Maarohanye, who is a South African hip-hop artist and television presenter, was born in Soweto, Johannesburg, South Africa on June 29, 1980. He gained popularity as a musician in the mid-2000s with the release of his debut album, “Yours Faithfully.”

However, Maarohanye’s career took a significant turn in 2010 when he was involved in a tragic incident. He was convicted of culpable homicide and other charges after a car accident in which he was driving under the influence of drugs, resulting in the death of four schoolchildren and injuries to several others. He was sentenced to prison for his role in the accident.

During his incarceration, Maarohanye’s music career was put on hold. However, after serving his sentence, he made a return to the entertainment industry, including a comeback in music.

Who is Jub Jub’s wife?

Maarohanye has been in various relationships, some of which have been marred by abuse on his part. In 2016, his ex-girlfriend, fellow South African artist Kelly Khumalo, accused him of physically abusing her.

Khumalo claimed that during Maarohanye’s 2010 arrest for a drag racing incident, she was “dealing with a partner who was going through a very serious case, who was also very abusive, emotionally and physically.” Maarohanye has denied the accusations.

In 2021, Maarohanye’s ex-girlfriend, Amanda du-Pont, accused him of having raped her during their relationship over a decade ago. This followed an interview that was conducted by Maarohanye on “Podcast and Chill with MacG” where he said he “smashed” her.
