A beloved Catholic pastor died in a car accident on Wednesday, August 2, 2023.
Father Mark Beard Cause of Death
Father Mark Beard, 55, was traveling south on Interstate 55 in Mississippi when his vehicle veered off the road, collided with a median, and crashed into a culvert. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Father Beard was the pastor of St. Helena Catholic Church in Amite, Mississippi. He was a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and a graduate of LSU and Catholic High School. He was ordained a priest in 1998.
Father Beard was known for his kindness, compassion, and sense of humor. He was a beloved member of the Amite community and will be deeply missed.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
