Colleges of Education Admission Requirements

To be eligible for admission to the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) Programme, applicants must meet the following criteria:

1. WASSCE /SSSCE Qualification Applicants:
   • WASSCE Holders: A1-C6 in Six (6) subjects, including English Language and Core Mathematics, and Three (3) Elective subjects relevant to the course of study.
   • SSSCE Holders: A-D in Six (6) subjects, including English Language and Core Mathematics, and Three (3) Elective subjects relevant to the course of study.
   • Candidates awaiting the MAY/JUNE, 2023 WASSCE and NABPTEX RESULTS can also apply.
2. General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advance Level Applicants:
   • Applicants must have passed three (3) subjects, with at least one of them at Grade D or better.
   • Additionally, they should have credit passes (Grade 6) in five GCE Ordinary Level subjects, including English Language, Mathematics, and a Science subject (for non-science students) or an Arts subject (for Science students).
3. Advanced Business Certificate Examination (ABCE) Applicants:
   • Applicants must have passed in three (3) subjects, with at least one of them at Grade D or better.
   • They should also have credit passes in five (5) subjects, including English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science, or Social Studies in the General Business Certificate Examination (GBCE).
4. Technical and Vocational Education and Training Applicants:
   • Applicants must possess Certificate II in three (3) relevant trade areas awarded by TEU, NVTI, City & Guilds, and other authorized awarding bodies, in addition to NABPTEX Certificate II in lieu of passes in English and Mathematics.
   • Alternatively, they can have NABPTEX Certificate II in relevant trade areas, along with three (3) credit passes in WASSCE/SSSCE core subjects, including English and Mathematics.
   • Possession of a National Certificate II qualification in Competency-Based Training (CBT) in a relevant trade area awarded by TEU on the National TVET Qualification Framework (NTVETQF) is also acceptable.
5. Foreign Qualifications:
   • All foreign qualifications should be referred to the National Accreditation Board (NAB) for determination of equivalences and eligibility for admission to Teacher Education Institutions in Ghana.
   • Please note that the American SAT, TOEFL, etc. cannot in themselves be accepted as entry qualifications into Ghanaian tertiary educational institutions.

Entry Requirements for Special Needs Applicants

If you are a visually impaired applicant, study facilities are available at N.J. Ahmadiyya College of Education, WA; Wesley College of Education, KUMASI; and Presbyterian College of Education, AKROPONG.

For hearing-impaired applicants, study facilities are available at Presbyterian College of Education, AKROPONG.

Online Application Procedure

To apply, follow these steps:

1. Make a payment of Two Hundred and Thirty Ghana Cedis (GHC 230.00) into the Colleges of Education-Ghana Account at any branch of Consolidated Bank Ghana Limited.
2. Additionally, payment can also be made through mobile money wallet: Tigo Cash, Vodafone Cash, Airtel Money, and MTN Mobile Money by dialing short code 9248# from all networks.
3. Upon payment, you will receive a Personal Identification Number (PIN), an Admission Application Serial Number, and the Admission Website Address (coeportal.edu.gh).
4. Visit the Colleges of Education admission website and fill out the online application form using the provided PIN.
5. Select three Colleges of your choice for your program and an accompanying Ghanaian Language.
6. After completing the online application form, print a copy, attach one passport photograph, and copies of your results slip(s) (where available).
7. Send the application package via EMS priority envelope obtainable from Ghana Post nationwide, addressed to the Principal of your first College of choice.
8. Ensure you provide correct and reliable mobile phone numbers as you will receive notifications via SMS.
